Doing the work to bring your waiting child home...

• Review the   QUALIFICATIONS   for adoptive parents.
   

• Submit your   APPLICATION  to Children's Hope International.
   

• Upon your acceptance into the program, you will receive your Dossier Workbook and instructions regarding your homestudy. 
   

• Follow the guidelines provided as you assemble your dossier. You don't have to deal with this alone - you get our team in St. Louis and, eventually, our staff in Bejing to help you with any questions or concerns. Your homestudy worker will also prove to be a great resource to you. We will work together every step of the way.
   

When you have been accepted into the CHI China Waiting Child Program,
there are two ways to find your child:

1) Once you have completed your dossier,
you can specify the age of the child you hope for and the medical needs you feel your family can care for. Our staff will work with the China Centre for Children's Welfare and Adoption  (CCCWA) to find a match for you.

or

2) Once you have completed your homestudy, you can peruse the online list of faces and facts to see  WHO'S WAITING FOR YOU  When you see the child who speaks to your heart, do a little research on medical terms and prognoses.  Our program staff will send you more photographs, medical reports, and the paperwork necessary for you to review the information available regarding the child of your choice. 

Please note that it is required to have an approved homestudy before inquiring about a specific child waiting to be adopted. In short, you can look, but please do not fall in love until your paperwork is ready!

• Carefully study the information regarding your child.  You might take the medical reports you receive to a pediatrician familiar with these international documents.  The pediatrician's evaluation will help you come to your decision to adopt this child or to choose another. We also suggest that you say a little prayer for guidance in this momentous endeavor!
   

• Let us know your decision.  If you decide to forego your initial consideration and choose another child, we will respect your decision.  If you decide to move forward and adopt this child, you will sign the letters of intent and we will begin all the necessary proceedings for you to bring your son or daughter home. You will travel about six months after your intent has been filed.  You will be in China for about 2 weeks.  
   

• Then the fun begins!!!!
