Frequently Asked Questions

Are both boys and girls available for adoption?
Both boys and girls are available for adoption, but boys are more numerous. Not many toddler girls available.

Why are these children given up for adoption?
Children are given up for adoption usually for reasons of poverty. All children are adopted from orphanages; some children are relinquished by one parent to the orphanage while other children are abandoned.

Prior to referral, each child has a medical exam and blood test including HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and syphilis.

What happens after I receive my referral?
After the referral, you will make a journey of love to Vietnam to get your child, complete certain paperwork, and finalize the adoption at the U.S. Embassy there. We estimate this trip to take place approximately 4-6 months after referral.

Will I have to travel to Vietnam?
Only one trip will be required. The trip will be 2 -3 weeks in duration, during which, you will complete the adoption process and bring your child home.

Do I have to make my own travel arrangements?
We will assist in making travel arrangements for you including hotel, plane, etc. You will be met and assisted the entire time by one of our Children’s Hope Representatives in Vietnam who is quite caring and knowledgeable about the whole adoption process.

How many orphanages do you work with in Vietnam?
Currently we are working with a total of 7 orphanages. 5 (Tam Binh 1, Tam Binh 2, GoVap, Tu Duc, and Phu My) orphanages are located in HCMC (Saigon) and we also work in Kien Giang Province as well as Vinh Long province.
