Parent Education

10 hours of Hague approved Adoption Education is required for all Children’s Hope families. In order to help you to comply with this requirement we have sent you the following:

A DVD set entitled “Because They Waited” by Heart of the Matter Seminars. Included with this DVD set is an on line test (one for each parent); results will be sent to Children’s Hope. This set will give you 10 hours of Hague approved education.

All adoptive families must successfully complete the educational training DVD course entitled “Heart of the Matter Seminars-Because They Waited.” There will not be any exceptions made to this requirement, as this training was first implemented in January of 2007. It is a beneficial tool for all adoptive families, whether the family is a first time adoptive family or has adopted previously

There are many other resources for parent education. We also suggest that you take advantage of some of the following: Parenting Classes at a local hospital “Adoption Learning Partners” An Online Adoption Education Community, their website: http://www.adoptionlearningpartners.org/ Parenting and Adoption Books Adoption Seminars Pre-Adoption Workshops held at some Children’s Hope office

All fist-time parents will be required to attend a basic parenting class. These are available through most local hospitals.
