Russia has been an independent country since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. The population of Russia is over 145 million. Russia - the world's largest country - lies on two continents, Europe and Asia, and spans 11 time zones. It is the only country with all the climatic patterns but equatorial present. Polar nights and days and permafrost in the Northern regions contrast with the heat and rainfalls in the Southern coastal areas. Russia is beautiful when blooming in spring, or covered with snow in winter. You will be fascinated by Russian nature especially if you travel to Siberia during winter!

Recent statistics show that there are more then 260, 000 orphaned children in Russia who are in need of homes. And there are about 600,000 children living under institutional care who are in need of families. The number is increasing every year and there are overwhelming numbers of children who are in need of homes.

Russia is rich in cultural heritage. Laying both in Europe and Asia, the people in Russia are of Slavic, Asian and other cultural groups. Because of it rich diversity, the children from Russia can vary in appearance from fair, blonde, blue eyed children to children with olive complexion and Eurasian features. All these children with their diverse backgrounds are beautiful and precious.
