Ethiopia Adoption Program: Travel

Children's Hope requires at least one parent to travel to Ethiopia to bring the child home.

Families traveling to Ethiopia should expect to stay for at least five business days.

Traveling families will be met by our agency representative upon arrival and will be guided and assisted by our in-country, bilingual, Children's Hope staff throughout their stay.

Traveling to Ethiopia offers parents a tremendous opportunity to learn more about their child's birth heritage. While in Addis Ababa, parents will meet and visit daily with their child and have the opportunity for consultation with physicians and caretakers who have been attending to the child. In most cases, birth relatives of the child may request a meeting with adoptive parents. Anyone adopting from Ethiopia must be comfortable having this meeting if requested.

Ethiopia Adoption Program: Staff/Partners

Tsegai (Suh Guy) Fesseha is the full-time bi-lingual representative in Ethiopia for Children's Hope. He and his staff will meet you at the airport and completely look after you while you are in Ethiopia finalizing the adoption of your child.

Above is the office of Children's Hope in Addis Ababa and the House of Hope where the children live until they are adopted. In this building are also guest rooms where adoptive families may stay while in Ethiopia.

Re-Fingerprinting Request

The U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service (CIS, formerly BCIS/INS) regulations state that fingerprints must be no more than 15 months old at the time of I600 filing for child's immigrant visa. Read more and learn how to ensure that your fingerprints are current.
