Parent Qualifications for Adopting in Colombia
-
ICBF prefers that couples be married a minimum of three years or have been together for that period of time and are currently married before applying.
-
No more than two young children in the home if the family wants to adopt a child 0-2 years.
-
Families wanting to adopt a child 0-2 must be open to either a boy or a girl, although they can state their preference.
-
Single woman may adopt a child 8 years old and older.
-
Families with health and mental issues will be considered on a case by case basis.
-
Adoptive parents must have clean criminal history records to adopt from Colombia.
