Home Study

Children's Hope International is licensed to complete international and domestic home studies and post-placements in the state of Missouri, and works in cooperative association with cooperating agencies in all other states.

Children's Hope provides all adoption placement services nationally through our office in St. Louis, Missouri. State by state, Children's Hope works in close association with local social service agencies, building relationships on developed trust and proven ability to provide excellent home study and post-placement services to families and children. View our recommended home study agencies, outside of Missouri.

Within your home study, you can expect to supply:

  1. Preparation: Write an autobiography

  2. Copies of the following documents may be needed during the home study: Girls from China

    • Birth certificates for each family member

    • Marriage certificate

    • Letter from local police stating “no criminal record”

    • Financial statement

    • Medical letter/report from your family doctor on official letterhead stating positive condition of physical or mental health for adoptive parents and children in the home

  3. Reference letters

  4. Home Study/ Post-Adoption Agreement

Your country guide will supply more specific guidelines.

NOTE: It can take between 3 to 6 months to successfully complete a dossier.  This includes completing the home study process, submitting the I-600A, fingerprinting, collecting all required dossier documents, receiving an I-171H, and getting all dossier documents state certified and authenticated, or apostilled.
