China adoption qualifications fall into the following categories:

  • Age qualifications: parents must be between the ages of 30 and 50
  • Medical history: both parents must be in good health and have no history of various medical problems
  • Financial status: parents must prove they are able to support their adopted child
  • Criminal record: no history of violent crime
  • Marital history: neither parent can have been divorced more than twice
  • Education requirement: both parents must have completed high school or vocational training
  • Size of family: no more than five children in the home unless you are adopting a child with special needs
  • Religious requirement: parents cannot belong to a religion that prohibits medical treatment
  • Citizenship requirements: at least one parent must be a U.S. citizen
