Twenty-three Children Referred to the Ethiopia Program in May!
On June 5th we were thrilled to offer the referral of 7-week-old twin girls. The happy family waited 15 months to be matched. This is the longest that a family requesting siblings, or any Children’s Hope family, has waited for a referral. The family had just decided to expand their age request as, unless we received twins, their age range for siblings was a bit too narrow. However, the change was immediately unnecessary! Congratulations to the family!
The Children’s Hope Ethiopia Program received a total of 23 children in May to match with families. Several children were placed on our waiting children’s website and many have found their forever families. There are yet several other children still posted who desperately need a home as well. Ethiopia Program Statistics
- 140 families home since the program began (since April 2007)
- 50 children home to 45 families so far in 2009
- 23 referrals received in May 09 alone
- 93 dossier families on the waiting list for a referral
- 43 families with a referral waiting to travel
- 2008 - 74 children home to 60 families
Sharon in Ethiopia
Program Director Sharon Turner is currently in Ethiopia from June 13th – 29th. While in country, Sharon will be visiting the orphanages we work with in Ethiopia, learning new court and MOWA processes, taking pictures of our referred children for our Referral Families and helping open our new family guest house, the House of Hope II.

The Hogan Family
Just home in April 2009, an 18-month-old Grayson Hogan visited the Children's Hope office in St. Louis. This little boy will honor his father Kevin in his first Father's Day celebration this weekend.
